Stories Unexpected

A Special Place

In Memory of My Loving Mother

There is a place

Where the mountains paint a story of 89 peaks and valleys

as a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother

and a great friend

And now a child

…of God

There is a place

Where the air is as sweet as my mother’s kiss

Where the ocean reflects the person I’ve come to be because of her

There is a place

Where the trees stretch their branches budding beautiful notes

bearing fruit bursting with a song of a life and a love of music

And the roots grow deep, her fingers now entwined in the arms of her ancestors

There is a place

Where double rainbows stretch across the sky in a lifetime of hues

The blues of yesterday washed away with yellow sunshine and forever green

A canvas filled with brush strokes of breathtaking gardens, alive with the scent of eternal love

There is a place

Where the river flows

spreading currents of life, as crystal clear as the knowledge I hold that

There IS a place

Where the sky stretches as far as my mother’s love

Into eternity, into a place

Called Heaven

A place

Called home

  1. Your poem is coming from that spot inside you where creativity is brewing always. You are definitely a poet. It would be interesting to write a story in poetic language
